The Political Studies Association of Ireland (PSAI) Conference was held at Trinity College, Dublin, 18-20 November 2013. ABIS was represented by staff whose research focuses on political identity throughout the UK. Academy Director Professor Jim McAuley, who is also a member of editorial board of the PSAI’s journal Irish Political Studies, presented findings about ‘Contemporary Loyalist narratives: collective memory and shared futures’.

Dr Graham Macklin is Co-Investigator on a forthcoming ESRC Research Seminar Series on “Right Wing Extremism in Contemporary Europe” (Grant Reference: ES/L000857/1). The Seminar was awarded a grant of £30,000, and the Principal Investigator is Professor Hilary Pilkington based at the University of Manchester. The other Co-Investigators of the Seminar Series are Associate Professor Cynthia Miller-Idriss (American University, Washington DC) and Professor Fabian Virchow (Dusseldorf).
