Spring Festival

On Friday 7 February from 11.00am to 3.00pm the Spring Festival will take place in Student Central and the Central Services Building Atrium (Level 4 – outside the library).
It's the Year of the Horse and everyone is welcome to come to this FREE event hosted by the Chinese, Hong Kong, Malaysian, Vietnamese, Burmese, Taiwanese and South Korean student societies at the University. Celebrating the new lunar year calendar, it will be a great opportunity to sample some south-Asian culture and cuisine and make new friends along the way. There will be lots of activities, performances, games and food for you to enjoy.
These include:
- Lion dancing
- Chinese Musical Instruments
- Vietnamese Bamboo Dancing
- Kung Fu
- Make your own Malaysian Hand Craft Gifts
- Learn Cantonese from the Hong Kong Society
- Discover your very own Zodiac Character
- Chinese Chop Stick Game
Also, there are many more games and activities throughout the afternoon.
In addition to the event there will be hot food available from Huddersfood in Student Central serving the following dishes:
Chinese chicken with black pepper sauce (China)
Chinese egg rolls (China)
Bul-Go-Gi (South Korea)
Golden Egg Curry (Burma)
Mango chicken (Malaysia)
Bo' Kho (Vietnam)
Stir fry tofu with mushrooms, sugar snap peas and green onions (Taiwan)

The Spring Festival Evening Show takes place on Friday 7 February, from 6.45pm to 9.45pm in St. Paul’s Church (on campus).
This is a ticketed event and tickets are priced at £1 and £3 with discounts for group tickets and are available from the i-Point desk in Student Central.
Join the student societies as they host a very special evening show to conclude the Spring Festival celebrations.
There will be around 15 different performances to delight you on the night showcasing the very best of Chinese arts and tradition. You will also be automatically entered into a 'Lucky prize' draw with every ticket purchased with an opportunity to win some big prizes.
