Viewers of BBC One’s Look North – broadcast from Leeds – saw veteran presenter Harry Gration and his colleague Amy Garcia attempt the intricate arm and leg movements that are integral to the traditional Indian dance style. They were guided by Hardeep Singh Sahota. (As seen in the video below).

Below: Hardeep talks about his book Bhangra: Mystics, Music and Migration and how Huddersfield's Panjabi community played a key role in establishing the dance and its music in the UK, with the creation of the Sikh Social and Cultural Bhangra Group in the late 60s.
