THE University of Huddersfield is set to become a major regional centre for study of the Holocaust, enabling huge numbers of teachers, schoolchildren, students, community groups, academics and individuals to learn more about the atrocity via photographs, digital testimonies, records of persecution, family letters and artefacts.
Substantial grants from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) will enable the Leeds-based Holocaust Survivors’ Friendship Association (HSFA) to create a Holocaust Heritage and Learning Centre for the North. It will be located at the University’s technically-advanced and uniquely accessible new archive centre named Heritage Quay, which was itself developed after a £1.6 million award from the HLF.
