Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Concerts

The following concerts are part of the University of Huddersfield's Diamond Jubilee celebrations:

St Paul's Hall

• 22 January: Purcell - ‘The Fairy Queen’ - Diamond Jubilee concert
  
  Based on Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, an Elizabethan play, fully staged using the most talented singers in the Music Department and accompanied by the University Early Music Ensemble under John Bryan.

• 20 February: The Rose Consort of Viols - 'Long Live Fair Oriana' - Diamond Jubilee Concert

Their programme, 'Long Live Fair Oriana', celebrates Elizabethan music and marks the current Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee year with music by Tallis, Byrd, Holborne and Dowland.

• 7 March: 'Orpheus Britannicus' - Diamond Jubilee concert

Chamber music by Purcell and his English predecessors.

John Bryan (viol), Graham Cummings (organ, harpsicord), Duncan Druce and David Milsom (violins) perform sonatas by Purcell and his English and Italian contemporaries.

• 26 April: 'Music for the Three Queens of England' - Diamond Jubilee concert

   University Early Music Ensemble and Chamber Choir
   St. Paul’s Church, Queensgate campus

• 11 June: Summer Showcase - Diamond Jubilee concert

A programme of British Themed Music to start this years Summer Showcase.
