The University of Huddersfield is hosting a research conference entitled ‘Voices from the African Caribbean Diaspora’ which coincides with Black History Month.

The conference will celebrate the lives and experiences of individuals from the African Caribbean community across the life-course. It will provide an opportunity for debate and discussion on a range of topics focused on the importance of community, culture and collective identity. This will be of interest to those who are keen to increase their knowledge, understanding and awareness of the lives/experiences of members of the African Caribbean Community.

Black History Month, established in 1926 by African-American journalist Carter G Woodson, celebrates the history and lives of African Caribbean people. A number of events are taking place throughout October within Kirklees - download the full timetable of events using the link Black History Month - October 2013.
