Wed, 03 Jul 2013 13:30:00 BST

John Bryan will be playing with his Rose Consort of Viols, live on BBC Radio 3’s ‘In Tune’ on Thursday 4 July at around 5.30pm. He will be talking about this year’s York Early Music Festival, for which he’s an Artistic Adviser, and playing music by one of this year’s featured composers, the Elizabethan lutenist and song writer John Dowland, who was born 450 years ago in 1563.  John can also be heard on BBC Radio 3’s ‘The Early Music Show’ on Sunday 7 July, live from York Early Music Festival, between 1.00pm and 2.00pm, performing music by one of Dowland’s colleagues in Tudor London, Antony Holborne.

He will also be playing in the Festival’s main concert on Saturday 6 July in a programme of music he has devised that places Dowland’s music in the context of different places he worked: Paris, Italy and Denmark, and giving a lecture on Monday 8 July on the 17th century violinist and composer Arcangelo Corelli, another composer featured in this year’s festival, who died 400 years ago.
