Seminar: UK Stewardship Code

The UK Stewardship Code, published in July 2010, aims to enhance the quality of engagement between institutional investors and companies to help improve long-term returns to shareholders and the efficient exercise of governance responsibilities.
At a FEGReG seminar on 11 May 2011, Christine Mallin, Professor of Corporate Governance and Finance at Birmingham Business School, University of Birmingham, gave a paper entitled “The Stewardship Role of Institutional Shareholders”. Her presentation to an audience of staff and doctoral students gave a fascinating overview of developments in this area and she discussed her research so far into how institutional investors are responding to the Code.
