Final year Nursing students presented work as part of a conference held at the University on 5 December 2012.
The conference was introduced by the Dean from the School of Human and Health Sciences, Professor John Playle, who discussed the importance of leadership and management in future nursing careers as part of his opening statement. The conference style event saw students present work undertaken as part of the Leadership and Management for the Newly Qualified Nurse module.
The students worked in groups of 4-6 to explore a potential issue from their area of practice using a problem solving model or framework, and presented posters illustrating the ways in which the issue was identified, formulated and resolved, with suggestions for implementation and improvement.
The aim of the conference and presentations was to help prepare students for their future roles and to develop skills required as a newly qualified nurse; such as leadership and management, teamwork and the ability to identify and solve problems to ensure effective care.
The conference was attended by lecturers and practice learning facilitators, all of whom agreed that the students had clearly worked hard to produce the posters and the standard of work presented on the day was extremely high.
Congratulations to all the students and staff involved on the day!
