Second year transport & logistics students took part in a challenging 'Apprentice' style project, facing senior managers from global logistics giant DHL in the Business School boardroom.
Students took on the role of the business development team of a logistics company, presenting a new business proposal to the board in a challenging task that required team work, effective organisation and well honed marketing and communication skills. The board, led by senior lecturer David Leach, comprised staff from the Department and DHL - including Marina Stasenko, Talent Programmes Manager, Dan Smith, Operations Director and Robert Edwards, General Manager
Competition was intense, but following a day of high drama in the boardroom, the ‘At Your Service Logistics’ student team emerged victorious. Scott Guthrie, from the winning team commented "We put a lot of effort into ensuring that our tender was the best but also the most professional of all our rival companies and we were very happy to find out that we were the successful bidder".
"The winning team performed to an excellent standard, greatly impressing the whole board" commented David Leach, "Lord Sugar would definitely have hired them".
