The fourth annual Games Republic Student Showcase 2011 was held on Tuesday 24th May 2011, a privately funded and sponsored event. A fantastic opportunity for more than 60 final-year and postgraduate games course students from the Educational Partners of Game Republic - both to display their best work to the biggest games developers in the region, and, hopefully, to win awards. Previous awards have led to work placements for more than a dozen winners and full-time employment for three graduates.

As usual, the team from Huddersfield gave an outstanding performance. Team FTW7 (Daniel Hunt, Daniel Grayshon, Christian Smith, Sean Pollitt, Armund Sev Talideh, Chris White, Mark Richardson, Andrew Goacher and Trevor Sturman) and their game Acorn of Aneush earned first place in three out of the four available awards:

  • Revolution Software Award for Game Design
  • Sumo Digital Award for Game Technology
  • Rockstar Leeds Award for Best Team

This is the 3rd year the University of Huddersfield has taken part in the competition and our continued success goes a long way in building not only our reputation but that of our students, past, present and future. New applicants can be assured they are making the right choice in coming here, students get great placement opportunities and our graduates are assured of a qualification from a University that is highly respected in the industry.
