Young engineers got the chance to showcase their efforts at the University of Huddersfield last week.  Teams of sixth form students mentored by their teachers and working with local companies on the Engineering Education Scheme in England (EES) took part in a three day residential.

The EES workshop offers a unique opportunity for the whole team- Students, Teachers and Mentor Engineers work together over the residential period to jointly solve complex engineering and technical problems within their project. Working together the team gain and develop a range of knowledge on the application of the topics they study at school as required in the world in business and industry.  The students in particular develop life skills such as team work, project management, presentation skills, report writing, leadership -all which are pre requisites to successful careers in STEM.

At the end of the six-month scheme, the projects will be assessed by experts from business and education.
