Stonewall We are pleased to announce that the University has become a member of the Stonewall Diversity Champions Programme.  The Diversity Champions programme is Britain's good practice employers' forum on sexual orientation.

Research shows that people perform better when they can be themselves and being a member of the Diversity Champions programme gives the University one-to-one advice from Stonewall's workplace team as well as networking opportunities with hundreds of high profile employers.

We are also now able to advertise vacancies on Proud Employers

According to our results in the Careers in Research Online Survey 75.4% of our researchers think that staff are treated fairly irrespective of sexual orientation, but 22.8% “don’t know.”  In the Principal Investigators and Research Leaders survey 82.7% think that staff are treated fairly irrespective of sexual orientation, but again 16.7% “don’t know.”

The next step for the University is to aim for submission to the Workplace Equality Index, which requires a review of our employee policy, employee engagement, staff training and development monitoring, supplier policy and LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) community engagement and to conduct a gap analysis.  Only six universities are in the Stonewall Top 100 Employers 2013 and engagement across the sector is generally quite low.

The University’s dedicated point of contact at Stonewall is Michelle Moon Lim (michellemoon.lim@stonewall.org.uk – 020 7593 3465)
