As part of a refurbishment of the Lockside building at the Queensgate campus, investment provided a specialist facility for all early years, childhood studies and primary courses.

There are two specialist rooms. One room is a large facility which includes specialist equipment for training with play and creative arts materials.

The other facility is a very large room with different specialist areas for different age groups, such as construction, numeracy, creativity, messy, water and sand play, role play, structured play and a library and quiet area along with the traditional student and research teaching area.

‘We are really excited about the additional specialist facilties this provides at the University’, explained Ceri Daniels, course leader for Childhood Studies BA(Hons). ‘The facility enables us to do so much more and help increase the employability of our students, as they can put their learning into practice right here before they take up any placements or practice in settings.’
