The Awards Ceremonies welcome entrepreneurs Theo Paphitis and Dean Hoyle and the Chancellor, Professor Sir Patrick Stewart

Sir Patrick Stewart Dragons' Den star Theo Paphitis will be welcomed as a guest of the University at its November Awards Ceremonies which will take place next week – Monday 12th to Thursday 16th November.

The celebrated entrepreneur has been invited to the awards ceremonies to confer the award of Emeritus Professor on the University’s retiring Professor of Entrepreneurship, Professor John Thompson – Wednesday 14 November at 11.45am.

Mr Paphitis has supported Professor Thompson by mentoring the BA(Hons) Enterprise Development students and giving guest lectures.  The unique degree course is designed to help young entrepreneurs start and run their own business whilst studying for a degree. 

Enterprise will also come to the fore when the University celebrates the success of local businessman Dean Hoyle.

Theo Paphitis Mr Hoyle will receive the award of Doctor of the University from the University’s Chancellor, Professor Sir Patrick Stewart.

‌‌Mr Hoyle is a self-made millionaire who, along with his wife Janet, founded Card Factory, a chain of greeting card and gift stores, in 2006.  The pair sold the business in 2010.

‌A lifelong Huddersfield Town supporter, Mr Hoyle joined the Club’s Board of Directors in 2008 and was appointed Chairman in 2009.

 

Dean Hoyle Over 1,600 students will graduate at the 16 ceremonies that will be held in the University’s St Paul’s Hall during the four-day period.
