Speaking live to Quentin Cooper on Radio 4’s Material World, Professor Bob Cywinski, Dean of Applied Science at The University of Huddersfield, talks about the different approaches to nuclear power based on more abundant, energy dense thorium, including his own work using a particle accelerator to initiate the nuclear reaction.

BBC Radio 4's weekly The Material World is the UK's most listened to science programme and "the most accessible, funny and conversational science programme on radio" according to the Radio Times.

And if you like what you hear, why not come and see Professor Cywinski at Researchers’ Night on 23 September where he will be speaking about neutrons and their ability to help us understand why materials behave the way they do in the real world in his talk entitled Seeing with Neutron Eyes
