The Pop-Up Art School ‘popped up’ again at Grove Lea Primary School, Hemsworth, in May 2012. The PGCE and CertEd (Lifelong Learning) pre-service full-time art and design students worked with all the Key Stage 2 pupils and also ran a family learning event with parents and carers, culminating in a celebration assembly and mini-graduation from the University of Huddersfield Pop Up Art School!

Staff at the University were asked to contribute recycled materials such as washing up liquid bottles, magazines, wrapping paper and ‘anything sparkly’!

Sarah Williamson, tutor at the University said, ‘The themes were the Jubilee and the Olympics, so there were lots of flags, union jacks and lots of blue, red and white on the day.’

There was also a news item in the Hemsworth and South Emsall Express about the day with some lovely pictures.
