Students on the MSc Analytical Sciences suite of courses came a step closer to completing their Masters degrees with a presentation and poster session.

The Project module forms a substantial part of the MSc programmes in Analytical Chemistry, Analytical Bioscience and Pharmaceutical and Analytical Science and allows students to research an aspect of analytical science in detail, with some students working in the University’s laboratories and others working in an industrial setting.  Students plan and carry out a scientific investigation using a range of laboratory and other practical techniques and writing a dissertation of around 8,000 words.

Students also gain valuable experience of communicating their work, producing both a poster and an oral presentation similar to those which might be presented at an academic research conference.

The MSc Analytical Sciences courses attract a range of students who wish to undertake higher level study after their degree, with both full time students and part time students who combine studying with their job.

After the presentation session, tutors commented on the standard of the presentations they heard.  Students who successfully complete their MSc wil graduate at the November 2013 ceremony.
