Podiatrists hold a summer clinic to raise hospice cash
FOOTCARE experts at the University of Huddersfield aim for a feat of fundraising when they hold a special charity clinic.
They could find themselves treating almost 300 corns, calluses and nails during a six-hour session which will see 30 podiatry students and 10 staff worked off their feet!
And hundreds of pounds will be raised for the Forget-Me-Not children’s hospice in Huddersfield.
It is on Monday 9 July between 9.30am and 3.30 pm that the University’s Podiatry Clinic in the Ramsden Building holds its special charity session, offering a continuous sequence of 30-minute slots routine for footcare appointments, treating calluses or hard skin problems, plus nails and corns.
There will be 24 treatment chairs continually in use, as the team of podiatrists help people to ensure that their feet are fit for summer.
People who attend will be asked for a donation of £10. Half of this sum will pay for equipment costs, but £5 from every treatment will be handed over to the hospice.
“We have held a charity clinic in the past”, says Podiatry Clinical DemonstratorAnnabel Davidson. “But this is on a much bigger scale. We are keen to help the Forget-Me-Not hospice raise the funds it needs”.
