No smoking policy

Fri, 19 May 2017 01:50:00 BST

As you'll be aware, the University operates a no smoking policy on campus. Here are the key points to bear in mind:

  • Smoking is not allowed at building entrances and exits, adjacent to and directly below windows. This is to prevent repeated exposure to second hand smoke by those working or studying in adjacent areas
  • Anyone wishing to smoke must do so away from building entrances, exits and windows
  • The policy applies to vapour cigarettes, electronic cigarettes and similar devices
  • Staff, students, contractors and visitors are all required to abide by this policy. Anyone caught smoking in areas where it is not permitted will be politely asked to stop. Failure to do so will be dealt with under the University's disciplinary procedures
  • Here is the full copy of the no smoking policy

Anyone wishing to give up smoking can contact the NHS smoking helpline on 0800 022 4332 for support and advice. Information is also available at smokefree.nhs.uk
