Chongqing Jiaotong University Design Project Over the Easter period Professor Adrian Pitts and Dr Yun Gao paid a follow-up visit to Chongqing Jiaotong University in China following their recent appointments as Distinguished Visiting Professors which commenced in January 2017. The visit further developed research and teaching collaboration with staff at the University and supports their joint research interests in the design and construction of dwellings in villages of SW China and sustainable buildings in urban areas.

Chongqing is one of the largest conurbations in the world but nevertheless has a large semi-rural suburban zone with historically interesting villages, several of which were visited during the trip, along with some new environmentally designed buildings in the city.

Yun and Adrian are working closely with the Dean of School of Architecture and City Planning Professor Lili Dong and staff member Dr Wen Quan. Huddersfield PhD student Guo Chen also supported the trip. The link has already led to development of several joint research articles due for publication this year as well as research funding applications linking the UK and China. The link also helps promote academic and non-academic impacts of their research associated with the next REF assessment working as part of the CUDAS Research Centre.
