Embracing disorder within an organisation may have a favourable impact on work productivity, innovation and staff morale, according to Business School Lecturer, Dinuka Herath.

His latest research article, 'Say yes to mess – why companies should embrace disorder', explores the use of order management within organisations and asks some fundamental questions on whether this approach has diminishing returns upon the workplace environment.

The article was originally published by Conversation and can now be viewed on several other reputable online newspapers such as Newsweek, Yahoo News and Metrotell.

The exposure of the article and the readership it entails provides a much needed critique of the current assumptions of working in businesses. The interest shown by academics and practitioners signifies the importance of this research for both practical business situations and the academic exploration of the subject.

Dinuka commented, "Whether it's our inboxes and calendars or how companies are structured, we're obsessed with making things orderly. Research suggests it's time to break free."
