Dignity at Work Advisors

The University is looking to increase the pool of staff members to become 'Dignity at Work Advisors'. When fully trained, they will be able to offer neutral support and guidance to alleged victims of harassment or those accused of harassment.  The aim will be to recruit approximately 8-10 advisors representing a cross-section of staff across the equality strands.

The role is voluntary and there is no remuneration for these duties.  However, previous advisors have said that this role has increased their communication and negotiation skills and has given them useful experience in managing difficult situations.  You are asked to discuss this with your line manager as this role will require you to be released from your duties from time to time to attend training, attend meetings and meet with individuals.  You will need support from your line manager in order to be considered.

If you are interested in being an advisor you should read the further details available and then write a short account of why you would be suitable for the role.  In writing your statement, include your name, your post and your School or Service.  You can use examples based on your working life, activities you undertake outside work or drawn from day to day experiences.

You must also include a short statement from your manager which indicates their support for you to undertake this role and their agreement to release you to attend training, occasional meetings of the advisors’ network and meetings with individuals.

Details should be emailed to Kirsteen Mitton or posted to Kirsteen Mitton, Occupational Health (SB10/08). The closing date is Tuesday 4 April 2017.
