Four teams of Business Management students wowed a panel of local business people in a Dragon’s Den style event, which was held recently at Huddersfield Business School. The second year students were shortlisted to participate in the event after producing outstanding business plans for a new product or service opportunity.

The dragons den panel – made up of representatives from Santander, SPX Flow and Carillion – were incredibly impressed with the quality of the presentations and the business plans, which formed part of the students’ assessment for their Creating and Leading Enterprise module.

After much deliberation, the panel announced the winners! Team Pin Point Plus, made up of students Joe Allan, Louis Dagless, Atlanta McBride and Tim Freeman, won with an app made for student navigation. Jonny Elliot, Chris Onyensoh, Theang An, Saqib Ali, Darindar Singh and Lucky Meli formed Team PAR, who were awarded runners up for an app they’d designed to solve parking problems.

"The event provided a valuable opportunity for the students to engage with local business people, and have their business plans and ideas scrutinised by an external audience. They did a great job and were a credit to the University," said Dr Alex Kevill, Module Leader for Creating and Leading Enterprise.

Other student teams included Team Wild Roots and Team Simul, featuring students Matthew Robertson, Bradley Hayton, Cameron Davies, Faisal Haq, Harry Dews, Husnain Zaidi and Ryandeep Mann. Congratulations to all those who were shortlisted!
