Ransomware attack – we need your help to protect the University

Thu, 15 Jun 2017 10:57:00 BST

Computing & Library Services have been made aware of a ransomware attack within the last 24 hours that is seriously disrupting business at University College London and could spread quickly to other Universities.

It is suspected that the attack is launched by opening an email and clicking on the attachment and/or links in the message but at this stage we have no further details of the exact message.

These attacks are becoming far more frequent and sophisticated and we urgently need all staff and students to be extra vigilant when opening emails that may at first glance appear to be from a genuine source.

If you believe you have received a suspicious email, please contact IT Support on x3737 as a matter of urgency.
