Fashion students are set to get their designs showcased before thousands of visitors as their projects are shown on the Great Yorkshire Show catwalk.
Students from Hull, Harrogate and Huddersfield have been selected to have their designs displayed on the catwalk as part of the three day agricultural show with students from the University of Huddersfield being tasked with creating a spin-off version of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society tailored jackets.
Charles Mills, Show Director, said: “We are delighted to offer a platform at the Great Yorkshire Show to help students develop their work. The fashion show always attracts thousands of visitors and brings together cutting edge fashion and agriculture while giving up and coming designers from across Yorkshire the chance to showcase their work.”
The new collections were unveiled exclusively at Birdsall House, near Malton, which belongs to Lord Middleton, President of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society.
The fashion show is co-ordinated by Bernadette Gledhill of Morton Gledhill – The Fashion Team with hair and makeup by The Artistic Team at Harrogate College.
This will be the 159th Great Yorkshire Show, held on Tuesday 11 – Thursday 13 July 2017 on the Great Yorkshire Showground, Harrogate, North Yorkshire.
Elsewhere around the showground, there is the popular mix of countryside attractions guaranteed to entertain the crowds.
This year, as well as the 8,500 animals including cattle, sheep, pigs, pigeons and ponies, the Charolais Cattle Society will hold its Summer National Show with 75 head of cattle expected. And there’s also the popular Food Hall and Game Cookery Theatre, featuring TV favourite Rosemary Shrager, as well as the popular Shetland Pony Grand National, endless shopping opportunities and horticultural displays.
