A reunion of former Journalism and Media students from the University of Huddersfield was held in a restaurant in Soho.
The gathering was organised by former lecturer Eileen Jones who was the course leader for the Public Relations degree. She was joined by Jemma Louise Smith and Matthew Watson, who graduated in 2008, and Ben Hall and Dave Wedderburn who graduated in 2010. All now work in London.
Jemma is social advocacy and community management lead for Emear at Cisco, the global IT company. Ben is product manager for Newsquest, the leading news and magazine brand. Dave is a senior PR consultant at Mantis PR, the public sector IT specialists, and Matthew is head of insights at Hotwire PR, one of the fastest growing communications agencies in the world.
Sending apologies was sports journalism graduate Michelle Sammet, editor of Spikes, the track and field magazine, who was summoned into work because she was needed to translate a series of German documents.
Eileen, who taught at Huddersfield from 2001 to 2013, runs Lakes-based Cumbria PR and also edits a West End theatre blog, Stagey Lady.
She said: “I was working in London and thought it would be good to catch up with some of our success stories. It was really wonderful to see how well they have done, and how each of them has become expert in their own field."
