The University’s British Cultural Society has several events lined up in March and April and would like to invite all students and staff to join. The society is completely free to be involved with and welcomes any individual to join in, make friends and learn more about and showcase British culture.

Their aim is to bring together students and staff from different countries, cultures and backgrounds to showcase British traditions and help international students orientate themselves better.

In the last few months they have held some cultural activities on campus, participated in the University's 'Christmas around the World' event, International Food and Culture Festival, organised a walk to Castle Hill on Bonfire Night, 'Moonraker' festival, hosted Britain beyond London events and taken international students to the pantomime.

Their next events include 'Chinglish' with the University's Chinese Society (30 March) which aims to bring a greater understanding between Chinese and British students. They also have an origami/crafts event with the University’s Japanese Society (31 March) in Student Central making paper cranes. Planning ahead for May, they will be hosting a trip to the Holmfirth Festival of Folk, details coming soon…

The society would love to hear from staff and students about their ideas and join them and create some lasting memories during their time on campus.

If you want to get involved or are interested in what events will be coming up in the future, message the society:
