Congratulations to the Finance Team who have successfully been shortlisted on the Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards 2017. The team has been nominated for the Outstanding Financial Performance category for these highly competitive awards.
The award recognises outstanding work in finance departments and particularly how procurement has released savings to invest in the University.
The winners will be announced during the awards dinner and presentation ceremony on Thursday 22 June in London.
Earlier this year, the team has also been shortlisted for the National Government Opportunities (GO) Excellence in Public Procurement Awards 2017/18. Read more about this on the news page.
The team has won several awards in the past including Customer Service Excellence Standard in July 2014, THELMA - Outstanding Finance Team in June 2015 and Business Finance Awards - UK FD of the Year (Public and Voluntary Sector) in March 2016.
Andrew McConnell OBE, Director of Finance, said of this achievement “Being shortlisted for such a prestigious award gives recognition to not only the central team in finance but also to everyone across the University who contributes to the delivery of our outstanding financial performance. I’m delighted to have this opportunity to thank them all for their efforts.”
For the last two University Strategy Maps the Finance team have focused on generating sufficient annual cash to meet the University’s investment needs, to the extent that we now have the best quality estate without borrowings for all mainstream universities in the UK.
The University has also been the financially strongest mainstream university in the UK for the last 5 years. At the same time our commitment to customer service has been recognised through achieving Customer Service Excellence and we are one of only 5 universities to have been given a Superior rating in the latest Procurement Assessment programme.
