Opportunities for students to get involved

Here are details of two great opportunities for students to get more involved, gain experience and earn some extra money while they are studying.  You can help raise awareness of these opportunities by spreading the word to students, perhaps during induction talks with new students.

Applications open from Friday 9 September to apply to be a Student Ambassador or a Social Media Rep.

Here’s a taster of what each role involves:

Student Ambassador Scheme

  • Work alongside the Schools and Colleges Liaison team.
  • Promote Higher Education and the University of Huddersfield to young people and share your experiences with prospective students.
  • Why apply?  Enhance CV, gain new skills, work experience, work with a wide range of people, meet new friends and have fun.
  • What’s involved? Open Days, Applicant Visit Days, on-campus school visits, campus tours and student panels.
  • Other information: the work is designed to fit around your studies, you work when you can and earn approximately £8.47 per hour.

“Being lucky enough to have been selected as a student ambassador has enabled me to participate in a range of activities that have given me a wealth of skills and as a result, I have seen my confidence grow. It is an experience to remember!”

Social Media Representative Scheme

  • Work alongside the Marketing team.
  • Share University life from a student’s perspective through photography, quick films, blogs, vlogs and fun apps.
  • Why apply? You will learn new PR and social media marketing skills, get involved in University events, meet new people, enhance your CV and get paid.
  • What’s involved? Blogging, social media, filming and photography.
  • Other information: you can work up to four hours per week, designed to fit around your studies and will earn approximately £8.25 per hour.
