It’s National Care Leavers’ Week from Thursday 20 October to Friday 28 October. This national week highlights the needs of care leavers and encourages agencies responsible for looking after them to work in a coordinated and effective way. Here at the University there are a range of activities taking place for you to take part in.

Saturday 22 October and Wednesday 26 October from 9.30am to 3.00pm

At the University of Huddersfield Open Day there will be a dedicated space in meeting room A, in the Students’ Union, throughout the day where care leavers and looked after children can drop in and access information from members of staff from Wellbeing Services and the Schools and Colleges Liaison team.

Monday 24 October, 1.00pm to 3.00pm

The University of Huddersfield is hosting a conference on: Supporting Care Leavers into Higher Education

This event aims to raise awareness about the barriers and challenges that care leavers face in Higher Education and the importance of support that universities offer. There will be speakers from the University of Huddersfield and the Care Leavers' Association as well as a care experienced student panel.

This event is open to all staff with an interest in supporting care leavers in Higher Education, particularly those who want to know more about the support the University offers.

To book on this event visit the staff development website.
