Heritage Quay Events

Heritage Quay is home to the University of Huddersfield archives, acting as guardian of the archives of other organisations, families and individuals dating back over 200 years. They host a wide range of events and interactive activities every week for all ages to get involved with. Events coming up include:

Lunchtime Music Club

Calling all musicians and music fans. Heritage Quay will be hosting a lunchtime music event every Thursday for anyone to come and listen to and discuss a wide variety of interesting music from the archives over lunch. There is no need to book on simply turn up on the day.

Cabinet of Dr Caligari

Head down to Heritage Quay for a unique Halloween experience. In partnership with the University's Drama department, they will have renowned mystery entertainers, terrifying tales and haunted artefacts, as well as a classic horror movie to end the night.

On the night there will be magical performances before the film, with timed entry to make sure you all get to see everything. There will be a bar on the night for refreshments and feel free to head down in fancy dress.

Radiophonic Workshop with Liz Dobson

Inspired by the experiments and achievements of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop and Tristram Cary come and make your own 1960s-inspired sci-fi sounds.

Educate Your Selfie: Social Media Victorian Style – 175 Anniversary Event

Go along to Heritage Quay on Saturday 8 October for a family fun day event as they re-create a Victorian Reading Room in the technologically advanced Group Space. Dress up in your Victorian best and hashtag your selfie on our twitter account, create your own newspaper using printing block and stamps and practice your best Victorian handwriting with quill and ink. Catch up on the day’s latest news in our reading room and browse specially selected items from the archives that tell the story of social media and communication in the Victorian age.
