Dyslexia Awareness Week - Monday 3 October to Friday 7 October 2016

This year’s Dyslexia Awareness Week theme is around identification of dyslexia. Getting assessed and actually knowing if you have, or might have a Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD) is a huge issue at any stage of any individual’s personal SpLD journey.

Therefore, the Wellbeing and Disability Services is having a stand in Student Central (next to the SU shop) during Dyslexia Awareness Week from Monday 3 to Friday 7 October, where literature will be on display. In addition to this, they will be running Initial SpLD meetings in the workshop room in Student Central where students can come along to discuss what issues they are currently experiencing, find out what the assessment process entails and what support the university can provide for students with a SpLD.

The initial SpLD meetings will be running as follows:

Monday 3 October   2.00pm to 3.30pm

Tuesday 4 October     3.30pm to 5.30pm

Wednesday 5 October    10.00am to 11.30am

Thursday 6 October     10.30am to 12.00pm

Friday 7 October       10.00am to 11.30pm

Students wanting to attend an initial SpLD meeting will need to report to the Wellbeing and Disability Help Desk, based in Student Central in the first instance.
