Founder of FEGReG, Professor Chris Cowton, has resumed the leadership of the research group with a new title – Professor of Financial Ethics. Chris originally joined the University of Huddersfield in 1996 as Professor of Accounting and set up FEGReG in 2007. In February 2008 he became Dean of the Business School, leading it through a period of expansion and transformation until stepping down at the end of September – at which point he was then the longest-serving Dean of a UK Business School. Chris has continued to publish and speak extensively while Dean and, in 2013, he was awarded the University’s first DLitt (higher doctorate) for his contributions to business and financial ethics. However, the change of role means a change of focus.
Chris commented:
"I have thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and privilege of leading the School, but I have been increasingly wanting to devote more time again to my academic research and writing. Having decided to step down as Dean, it seemed a highly appropriate point to switch professorial title, not only reflecting the evolution of my interests over the years, but also marking out my intended direction as I pick up the pace in research again."
