Jordanian PhD student Saad Zighan successfully graduated with a PhD award this year. Saad based his thesis on the subject of 'Servitization Strategies in Real Estate Development? Evidence from Jordan'and was supervised by Prof. David Bamford with co-supervisors Dr Iain Reid and Dr Dennis Duty.

Saad describes how he arrived to study in Huddersfield and reflects on his experiences during his time here:

"Prior to starting my PhD programme in 2012 I was working at one of the largest real-estate development companies in Jordan. I realised that a degree would improve my status and my future career and I joined The University of Petra which later supported my dream and sponsored my doctorate."

"Despite all the challenges that face an international student the University made me feel welcome, gave me further inspiration and treated me well. I found the support that I needed and the networks and services to help me get ahead through dedicated staff, resources and training."

"My supervision team are known for their commitment to innovation and entrepreneurship which encouraged me to study hard and do my best. They provided inspiration and facilitated networking, helping me to develop the necessary skills of a PhD candidate such as critical thinking, academic writing and presenting my ideas. As part of the PhD programme I completed the University's Postgraduate Certificate in Research Methods. After successfully completing my PhD in 2016 I returned to Petra as a lecturer in Operations Management to continue pursuing my academic career."
