Khaled describes how he arrived to study in Huddersfield and reflects on his experiences during his time here and where this has taken him:

“In 2000, I started the BSc in Transport and Logistics at Huddersfield. After completing, I returned to Egypt as a teaching assistant at the college of international transport and logistics. Five years later, I started a PhD in logistics at the University of Huddersfield. Studying there changed my life and gave me the confidence to progress professionally and pursue personal goals.  The staff, the town and the whole system is wonderful”

“After graduating I became Vice Dean for student affairs at my college in Egypt. Two years later, and after conducting national and international consultations, giving training programs and conducting research with my former tutors at Huddersfield, I was selected as Head of the Transport Logistics Department.  I was also selected as a logistics expert for the League of Arab States and the African Union”

“I currently participate in developing transport and logistics projects between African, Arab and South American countries. In summer 2016, I became a Dean of the College of International Transport and Logistics based in Cairo. This is a new development opportunity to set a strategy for my college towards internationalization”

“If you are considering logistics as a career, go for it! But make sure you enjoy what you do and remember it's never too late to make a change!”
