The University of Huddersfield is proud to announce new Choral and Organ scholarships for music students, available alongside existing opportunities. Singers and organists can apply for these scholarships, which offered at Leeds and Wakefield Cathedrals, and by the internationally renowned Huddersfield Choral Society.

Leeds Cathedral, a long standing partner of the University, offer Scholarships in Organ, Choral and Choral Conducting, giving opportunities to those of any faith or none. The Cathedral offers experience working with their music team and gives you the opportunity to make connections in preparation for your chosen profession.

Wakefield Cathedral and the University of Huddersfield also offer a jointly funded scholarship which has only recently become vacant. This is awarded or can be renewed annually. This new and exciting opportunity allows the student to work closely with the Cathedral, but also the university organist.

Internationally recognised Huddersfield Choral Society is offering some exciting scholarships for singers. The Society has worked with top class orchestras, conductors and soloists and has performed in some of the great concert venues in the UK and abroad. Regularly broadcasting on BBC Radio and TV it has a long history of pioneering recordings. Scholars will have the opportunity to learn from a range of choral trainers led by choral director, Greg Batsleer.

“Being part of the Diocese of Leeds Music Programme enabled me to broaden my horizons as a church musician and gave me the opportunity to gain vital skills in performing, accompanying and conducting. Being able to use these skills on a regular basis enabled me to build confidence as a musician and prepare me for a career in church music. I feel incredibly honoured to have been a part of the UK’s largest church music programme and to have gained the practical skills that have led me to gaining a full time musical director position.”- George Ford, graduated with a BMus(Hons), 2015, now Director of Music for the Parish of Boston
