Polly Toynbee IN Students and staff are invited to attend the Annual Journalism Talk with Polly Toynbee on Wednesday 7 December at the Diamond Jubilee Lecture Theatre, BS1/01 at 6.30pm.

Polly Toynbee is one of the UK’s leading political and social commentators. A long-standing heavyweight columnist on the Guardian newspaper, she has been acclaimed as Journalist of the Year and is a champion of social justice with books on Low-wage Britain and Cameron’s Coup: How the Tories took Britain to the brink. With a backdrop of Brexit, the May government and Corbyn leadership, Polly Toynbee will be discussing the current state of British politics and the press.

Dr Stephen Dorril, Senior Journalism Lecturer said: “It is a real pleasure that we have Polly Toynbee coming to talk. She is the most experienced of all the political commentators working today in Journalism. She knows all the leading politicians, she writes in depth about the huge problems facing the country now and in the future, and she has an inside track on the role of the press in acting as a watchdog on the government; and, undoubtedly, she will have plenty to say about the great social, cultural and political divide that has opened up following the Brexit vote. It should be an interesting night with plenty of debate.”
