Artist Details

No stranger to Huddersfield audiences, John Etheridge has been described as one of the best guitarists in the world. His playing style is as diverse as it is accomplished, whether it is recording with the likes of Stephane Grappelli or touring with the legendary jazz-fusion group The Soft Machine.

John cites his early inspirations as Hank Marvin, Django Reinhardt, Joe Pass, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Wes Montgomery and John Maclaughlin. But these have only inspired him to create a style which is uniquely his own.

Equally at home with electric and acoustic guitars he has received praise from both Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton.

John will be appearing at Huddersfield Jazz with local stalwarts Ben Crosland on bass and Dave Tyas on drums as the John Etheridge Trio North.
