Big Data Risk Analysis (BDRA) Symposium 2016
Thu, 12 May 2016 13:18:00 BST
The University of Huddersfield and RSSB are continuing their research on efficient methods of risk management in the future: Big Data Risk Analysis (BDRA).
At last year’s symposium we explored the foundations of BDRA, the challenges and approaches required for ensuring the safety of complex systems in the future, and research in this area is continuing.
On the 28th April, the IRR’s Safety and Risk Research area held their second BDRA Symposium, to showcase their work to date, and invite comment from academia and the railway industry.
Taking the learnings from last year’s symposium, the University has investigated several avenues of research to forward BDRA as a viable management tool for the future. In parallel with this work, RSSB have been developing the first phase of SMIS+, the risk management tool for the future of Britain’s railways.
Attendees travelled from all over Britain, as well as from across Europe including Switzerland, France, Sweden and the Netherlands. The symposium provided an excellent forum for discussion of BDRA and its potential applications in the future. Copies of each presenter’s slides are available from the links below.
