This year’s IM16 Informatics Showcase brought together a wealth of exciting and innovative products that utilised digital interactive applications covering web and mobile app development, visual design and graphics, UX/UI, motion effects and animation, video, sound and scripting and programming. The event had some beautiful bespoke stands, portals of student work and exclusive music created especially for the Show by Zak Rush and Ebrahim Akudi.

The event took place on 21st April 2016, in Quayside at the University and was attended by over 250 guests throughout the evening. The event received some fantastic compliments for its diverse range of student work, modern branding, event themes, excellent stage designs and live music sets from the band – The Soul Staples and DJ – Jake Harling.

Our visitors included current students, alumni, staff, family and friends. We were delighted that so many industry representatives took time out of their busy schedules to view the work, especially staff from Gravitas Recruitment, ITPearl, Elder Studios, Kirklees Council, Kirklees Libraries, TLF, LNT Group, THL Design, Servo, Parabis, Leadership Factor, Media Digital, Redbak, XEDI (WebEdi), Alex Beldea, ID30, Fantastic Media, Freeman Grattan Holdings UK, Korelogic Ltd, Masternaut UK, Aspect IT, Axia Ltd, Yorkshire Enterprise Network, Pixo Marketing, The Media Centre, Creative Kirklees, Interbrand, West Yorkshire Police, Code Blue Digital and many many more.

More than 13 of our students were asked to submit their portfolios for existing job opportunities, with an additional three invited to send CV's and four invited to attend interview screenings with companies. All of our students made interesting and new connections with industry professionals and have been contacted over the week.

The promotional website (im16.hud.ac.uk) will continue to be hosted until the end of the next academic year with event photography, student galleries and social media feeds being updated throughout the coming weeks.
