The Business School welcomed two French students onto campus as part of its fantastic partnership with the Institut Universitaire Technologie (IUT) of Tremblay-en-France. In April, the two French students, Sarah and Fabien, swapped the busy Parisian boulevards for a warm Pennines welcome from the Department of Logistic, Operations and Hospitality at the University of Huddersfield.

This was Fabien and Sarah’s first visit to Huddersfield before they return in September to start their undergraduate degrees in Logistics.

IUT graduate, Aboubakar Yatera, currently in his second year on the Air Transport and Logistics BSc(Hons) course, helped in delivering an action packed day at the University which entailed a welcome introduction, a tour of the campus and an overview of Huddersfield’s student accommodation.

The department has developed a long standing partnership with IUT and these recruitment activities are organised annually in partnership with Dr Sandrine Villers who is an English Teacher and also a well-known researcher and writer. Dr Villers, having studied at Tulane University, Louisiana (USA) for a period of time, is a strong believer in studying abroad and the benefits it can bring. She, therefore, actively encourages all of her students to take part in studying abroad.

The event organiser commented: “We are extremely thankful to Dr Villers’s support and great enthusiasm for the University of Huddersfield. As a result, we were pleased to host two visitors plus six more applicants on campus next year. The applicants and parents were impressed with the University describing it as a “friendly and fantastic learning environment” and “exceptional infrastructures and facilities” on campus. One of the guest’s parents commented: “it makes me want to come and study again!”
