All staff and students are welcome to attend Pakistani Resolution Day and a traditional evening of Nowruz celebrations. The events are free to attend and organised by the international student societies and sponsored by the International Office.
Monday 14 March
Pakistan Resolution Day Celebrations
Quayside, 6pm
Pakistan Resolution Day is a national holiday in Pakistan to commemorate the Lahore Resolution of 1940 and the adoption of the first constitution of Pakistan during the transition of the Dominion of Pakistan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on 23 March 1940 making Pakistan the world's first Islamic republic.
Join the Pakistani Student Society in celebrating this day in Quayside and experience the brilliant culture of Pakistan through its people and its arts. End your day with some fantastic Pakistani cuisine.
Tuesday 15 March
Quayisde, 6.30pm
The event is free and hosted by our Kurdish, Iraqi, Kazakh and Central Asian student societies. Traditional music and dance will be showcased, you can see traditional clothing and food for you to enjoy.
Nowruz is celebrated globally but mostly in the countries and regions of Afghanistan, Albania, Azerbaijan, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Iran (Islamic Republic of), Kazakhstan, Kurdistan, Kyrgyzstan, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkey and Turkmenistan.
Sunday 20 March
Huddersfield Hindu Temple, 12.00pm to 2.00pm
This is a spring festival, also known as the festival of colors or the festival of sharing love. It is a popular ancient Hindu religious festival and it is primarily observed in India and Nepal. Holi celebrations start on the night before Holi with a Holika bonfire where people gather, sing, dance and party.
