Field Trip to Malta

Hospitality and Travel and Tourism Management students have recently returned from a very successful field trip to Malta.

The programme included guided tours of the islands’ attractions and an insight into how a Mediterranean tourist destination uses marketing tools to increase its visitor numbers year on year in spite of the competition.
Detailed site visits at Luqa international airport, conference and exhibition facilities, and hotels enabled students to experience the operational side of the industry from the perspectives of industry experts.

The week concluded with a full tour of the island of Gozo and its amazing cultural and geological features.

Dr Andrew Jenkins, Subject Leader for Hospitality, Events and Tourism Management, said: "the trip was an excellent opportunity to view hospitality and tourism management in a non-UK setting and investigate this through a series of projects. The students were fantastic ambassadors for the University and, luckily, the sun shone for the whole week."

The field trip is an integral part of both courses and hence there was no additional charge to students.
