Professor Anne Gregory and Dr Johanna Fawkes, of Huddersfield Business School, launched their 2- year, university research funded project at the World Public Relations Forum in Toronto at the end of May.

The project builds on previous research into a Global Body of Knowledge (GBOK) for PR and aims to construct a capability framework that can be used by PR professional bodies and practitioners around the world, as well as influencing curricula. It is designed to reflect regional and cultural variations in priorities around PR education and practice, while capturing shared values.

The Toronto launch met with strong approval from the leaders of professional bodies in the Global Alliance for PR and Communication Management (GA), the academic partners from leading universities on each continent and from senior practitioners attending the event.

Professor Gregory, immediate past Chair of the Global Alliance, commented

"We have been delighted by the response – not only from GA members and project partners, but also from leading PR practitioners who want to be involved. Everyone recognises the need for a dynamic, fluid and responsive framework that will help the profession pave the way for tomorrow’s communicators."
