CRISS Director supporting LGBT human rights

Professor Surya Monro, Director of the Centre for Research in the Social Sciences, has provided a number of invited contributions to scholarly and policy/practice communities who support the human rights of LGBT people.
- In September 2015, Professor Monro gave a talk at the ‘Identity vs. Behaviour: Miscommunication between Lesbian & Bi Women, Myths &Truth’ event at Goldsmiths, University of London.
- In October 2015, she contributed to a meeting about transgender citizenship research in Turkey, as part of the Conference on Theoretical and Comparative Perspectives to Social and Economic Problems of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans Individuals (Bogazici University Social Policy Forum and Social Policies, Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation Studies Association) and acting as discussant the LSE-based launch of The Ashgate Companion to Lesbian and Gay Activism.
- In November 2015, Professor Monro gave a briefing to the Equality and Human Rights Commission on ‘The specific issues of reporting hate crimes from the bisexual communities’, as part of her work on the LGBT Anti-Hate Crime Campaign, funded by the Equalities and Human Rights Commission and led by the national LGBT Consortium.
