Senior Lecturer in International Business Dr Palitha Konara won an award for Best Paper at the 42nd Annual Conference of European International Business Academy (EIBA) which took place this December in Vienna.

Dr. Palitha Konara along with his co-author Dr Vikrant Shirodkar (University of Sussex) won the best paper for their paper titled 'Institutional Distance and Subsidiary Performance: Climbing up vs. Climbing down the Institutional Ladder'. The prize is intended as a reward of excellence for the best paper presented at the conference, judged across all 13tracks.

"I am delighted and honoured to have won the best paper award in the EIBA conference" commented Palitha. "I was very pleased when I won the best paper award in the ‘Institutions and Distance’ Track,, and then to win the overall best paper in the entire conference was a dream come true."

The award was especially impressive given the scale of competition: this year’s EIBA conference was the largest in EIBA history with 586 submissions, more than 400 contributions and with more than 600 participants from 43 countries.
