Siama Kausar has won the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) Student of the Year Award 2015. She graduated with a 1st class MPharm degree from the University of Huddersfield in 2015.

Siama has been involved with British Pharmaceutical Students Association and student support throughout her time at the University of Huddersfield, but her greatest achievement was the leadership of the public health Pharmacy student group, working with a member of staff to deliver student public health campaigns across the University campus and working with the Community Pharmacy West Yorkshire (CPWY) public health lead.

Siama was the catalyst for other Pharmacy students from all years to be involved, with one of the highlights being her contribution to a day long mental health support campaign in Student Central. She organised meetings of the group and used social media to make sure everyone was engaged, also liaising with the University’s wellbeing lead who organised the event.

Her creative ideas helped to encourage many students to visit the stand and get the support they needed from the University wellbeing team. Another objective was to not only to deliver public health campaigns across campus but for her group to support CPWY Public health campaigns outside the University. Since Siama graduated and left the University, the group has gone on to deliver an excellent public health advice stand at the 2015 Freshers' Fair thanks to her work.

Her contribution, passion and motivation to the profession especially through her Public health role has been outstanding and she is now carrying on her work as the pre-registration student representative on the RPS West Yorkshire Local Practice Forum steering group.
