Disaster risk mitigation for infrastructure - Global perspective

Professor Dilanthi Amaratunga of GDRC delivered a key note entitled “Disaster risk mitigation for infrastructure – Global perspective” at the recently held Symposium on Enhancing Resilience of Critical Road Structures: Bridges, Culverts and Flood Ways. GDRC”s Professor Richard Haigh spoke about the UN Making Cities Resilient campaign.
This symposium was held in association with “Enhancing resilience of critical road infrastructure: bridges, culverts and flood ways” project, led by RMIT, Australia, which is funded by Bush fire and Natural Hazards Cooperative Research Centre (BNHCRC), Disaster Resilience Australia. RMIT University, University of Southern Queensland, University of Melbourne and the University of Huddersfield, UK organised the symposium on behalf of the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC. This symposium brought together stakeholders of critical road structures and researchers from across Australia. Participants included representatives from Lockyer Valley Regional Council, Department of Fire & Emergency Services, Technology and Assets, VicRoads.
