Taking Transgender Studies Forward

Professor Surya Monro is continuing to contribute to the development of international transgender studies. She is preparing a Special Edition of the high profile international journal Critical Social Policy on Transgender Citizenship in Europe, in collaboration with Dr Zowie Davy (University of Lincoln), Dr Sally Hines (University of Leeds), Dr Joz Motmans (University of Ghent, Belgium), Dr Cristina Santos (University of Coimbra, Portugal), and Dr Janneke van der Ros (University of Lillehammer, Norway). This publication builds on the previous work of this research network. Recent collaborations include panels at two conferences: the 3rd Equal Is Not Enough conference, 4-6 February 2015, Antwerp, Belgium (where Professor Monro presented a paper on transgender equalities and institutional theory) and the 4th European Conference on Politics and Gender, 11-13 June 2015, Uppsala University, Sweden [pictured above] where she presented a paper, co-authored with Dr Shaun McDaid, on transgender and democracy.
